droughts

this picture is a picture of the drought in aulstalia. they have had the lowest amount of rain fall in the last 3 mon, making it a drouht. If your thinking theat we have not had rain in the lasy 3 mon, that is true but we have other types of waether keeping our climate moist. The drought did not just effect hte people and the land, it also effected the animals. In 1902, the sheep population droped to 54,000,000 and the cattle droped 40%. It was 1925 untill the population of both were back up to normal.
During WW2, aulstalia suffured dry conditoins from 1937-1947. The longest drought ever recored in aulstalia was in alice springs and melbourne because alice spring is a very dry place and is very hot.
and in melbourne because they use to much water.
This map shows the ares where the drought has been great.
the drought effects everythong when they hit. they hit because in humid, or wet, regions, a drought of a few weeks is quickly reflected in a decrease in soil moisture and in declining flow in streams. People who use water from streams in these areas may face water shortages as soon as streamflow begins to decline. In arid, or dry, regions, people rely on ground water and water in reservoirs to supply their needs. They are protected from short-term droughts but may have severe problems during long dry periods because they may have no other water source if wells or reservoirs go dry.
droughts impact the enviroment in because it limits the growth of plants dust bowls are created http://www.drought.unl.edu/kids/impacts/affects.htm
